About Us
Nestled on the edge of Wimborne Town Centre, we offer a luxury dog boarding experience with all the warmth of a family home. Whether your dog is joining us for a one-night stay, a full weekend, or a quiet day of play and companionship, they’ll enjoy a peaceful home-from-home designed around their comfort.

With a large, secure walled garden to explore and plenty of cosy spaces inside, every guest enjoys a joyful, stress-free stay. We welcome only one family at a time, giving your pets exclusive use of our home and garden — and our full attention and care — without ever having to share with unfamiliar dogs.

Every stay is tailored to your dog’s needs — from energetic playtime in the garden to gentle walks and quiet companionship. For those who prefer life at a slower pace, our warm detached home provides all the comforts they’re used to; whether that’s curling up in a cosy dog bed, stretching out on a comfy human bed, or basking in a sunny spot to watch the world go by.

Our Aim
At The Wimborne Wag Hotel, every dog lives with us as part of the family. Our priority is simple — to ensure your pets are happy, relaxed, and enjoying their holiday, giving you complete peace of mind while you’re away. We understand how important reliability is when you’re planning time away, and we take that trust very seriously. When you’ve prepared your dog for their stay — from vaccinations to flea/worming treatments — you can depend on us to do our part with care, consistency, and commitment. We’re always happy to share photos and videos of their adventures, so you can see the fun for yourself.

We pride ourselves on offering a truly personal service, with expert supervision, secure boundaries, and the reassurance of a 24-hour vet just moments away (0.2 miles). We also have a written agreement in place with our local veterinary practice, ensuring any guest can be seen promptly should the need arise. Our home is their home — no kennels, no crates (unless that’s what your dog is used to), just comfort, care, and companionship. Dogs are welcome to sleep in our bedroom if that’s where they feel most at ease, making their stay as natural and homely as possible.

We understand that trust and safety are everything when it comes to caring for your dog. We are fully licensed by Dorset Council, insured, canine first aid trained, and enhanced DBS checked, giving you complete peace of mind that your dog is in safe, professional hands. During our licensing inspection, we were delighted to be awarded a 4-star rating by Dorset Council. As a newly licensed business, ratings are influenced by operating history as well as inspection standards. We were particularly pleased to be told that we met all of the higher standards assessed during the inspection — something our inspector noted is relatively uncommon for a first inspection.

Our Home & Your Dog's Stay
Our guests live with us as part of the family — no kennels, no outdoor runs, just a comfortable home where they’re free to relax alongside us. We have a dedicated guest dog room where each visiting dog or family can settle in, with the freedom to join us in any room of the house, wherever the family happens to be.

The garden is fully enclosed and divided into two spaces — a patio area for sun lounging and a rear grassed garden for play or further lounging! There’s even a sandpit just for dogs to dig and explore, giving them the freedom to be themselves in a safe, secure setting.

After muddy walks or garden adventures, we have a convenient downstairs dog shower for when more than a quick foot rinse is needed — perfect for keeping everyone clean and comfortable.

To help your dog feel truly at home, we ask owners to provide their own bed, lead, collar (with ID tag), and usual food. Familiar scents and routines help your dog settle quickly, while ensuring their stay is as comfortable and consistent as possible.
Life at The Wimborne Wag Hotel is about more than comfort — it’s about happiness, stimulation, and safe adventure. Every guest enjoys walks tailored to their age, health, and personality. Dogs may be walked individually or alongside our calm resident dogs, depending on what suits them best. All walks are carried out on a lead provided by their owner, whilst giving dogs the time to sniff, wander and explore natural environments without the risks associated with being off-lead. Our peaceful routes along the River Stour and weekend walks in nearby countryside such as Pamphill, Badbury Rings or By The Way Field, provide plenty of enrichment through scent, movement and the sounds of nature.

We use our dedicated, dog-friendly vehicle to transport guests safely and comfortably to local walking spots, allowing us to explore beautiful countryside routes a little further afield. Each dog travels securely, with plenty of space, ventilation, and comfort. For extra peace of mind, every guest also wears a temporary ID tag with our contact details whilst staying with us and whilst out on walks, we also use internal tracking tags as an additional safety measure.

Back at home, enrichment continues in the garden with scent and search games, safe toys, and a dedicated sandpit for digging and play. We follow a daily enrichment programme to keep activities fresh, varied, and engaging — designed to challenge minds, encourage natural behaviours, and prevent boredom. These sessions are carefully balanced with plenty of time for rest and relaxation in a calm, secure environment.

When it’s time to unwind, our guests can settle with a familiar chew from home or enjoy quiet companionship in cosy surroundings — the perfect balance of activity and relaxation for happy, fulfilled dogs.
